A North-east couple have invested more than £60,000 to create what they say is the region’s first truly 5-star cat hotel.
Located at Cross of Jackston near Inverurie, The Furs Cat Hotel is a new venture for owner Louise Forrest and her husband David who decided to create a high-end, boutique cat hotel after their own experience of trying to find suitable boarding for their Ragdoll cats, Caesar and Luna.
The brand-new custom-built facility comprises of 10 suites, each one individually decorated in the theme of a different holiday destination. Within each suite, the pampered guests will have the luxury of state-of-the-art underfloor heating, a bespoke wrought iron bed big enough for two, and a climbing tree in the semi-outdoor exercise area.
The décor in the suites – Iceland, Thailand, New York, Dubai, Las Vegas, Cancun, London, Morocco, Paris and Florida – will feature panoramic images of the destinations in the main living quarters with themed wallpaper in the sleeping areas.
The opportunity to work with animals has been a long-held passion project for Louise who has a background in sales and has worked with a number of local and national housebuilders. She will now work full time at The Furs so that she can provide the level of service that she would expect to find if boarding her own cats.
“A few years ago, I was unable to find anywhere locally that I would feel comfortable leaving my two fur babies when we went on holiday and that’s when the idea of the Furs came about,” she said.
“When you head off on holiday you want to feel confident that your pets will be comfortable, happy and well-cared for and we provide this and much more. Our aim is to give your pet a more enjoyable and relaxing holiday than your own and our promise is to look after each of our guests as if they were a member of our own family.
“Our focus is very much on quality rather than quantity, so we have limited the number of suites to 10 which means we can spend more time with each guest every day during their stay, playing with them and giving them individual attention based on their needs and preferences.
“We were committed right from the start to providing accommodation which would be second to none and would match the level of care we provide,” said Louise. “The hotel was designed by a company which specialises in superior, modern boarding accommodation for pets. The suites are manufactured from the same thermally efficient materials as modern windows, doors and conservatories so they’re always at optimum temperature.”
David also made a big career change when he launched ClearView Window Cleaning in 2016 following a career in finance when he worked as tax advisor for a number of Aberdeen-based accountancy firms.
The Furs is already making plans to extend its range of services and coming soon will be various VIPurr Packages including A-la-Cat menus and feline spa treatments. A limo pick up and drop off service will be introduced in the future.
