A teacher at the city’s Dyce Academy has been hailed as one of 2018’s top ten educators in the country by The Times Educational Supplement Scotland.
Today’s edition of the national educational publication hails the work of John Naples-Campbell, Principle Teacher in Expressive Arts at Dyce Academy in making the prestigious top ten of influential people in Scottish education.
John was recognised for highlighting several issues this year including the #MeToo movement in education and the importance of arts in a child’s education and for helping drive through historic equality and diversity legislation for education which will see Scotland will become the first country in the world to have lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) inclusive education embedded in the curriculum.
John said: “2018 has seen many great examples of the impact education can have on society; from raising the aspirations of young people, to building communities based on respect and fairness. It’s been an honour to work in helping bring equality and diversity to our schools across the country and I am honoured to be recognised by the Times Educational Supplement Scotland for my contribution to education.
“The Senior Management Team at Dyce Academy and Aberdeen City Council have constantly supported me in raising awareness of issues in education and I thank them for enabling me to use my voice for change.”
